Exhibitors
150 galleries from 18 countries
Visitors
70,000+ visitors annually
Stand sizes
No official stand sizes or pricing are published — BRAFA vets exhibitors first (only established art/antiques dealers, VAT-registered, with the gallery's director in place for at least 3 years; no artists or auction houses) and stand scale follows from that curated, boutique format rather than a standard per-m² booking
Sector
Fine art, antiques & design (gallery fair)
Before you book
What you actually need to know about BRAFA.
BRAFA is one of Europe's most prestigious art and antiques fairs, running since 1956 across Brussels Expo's Halls 3, 4 and 8 — 150 carefully vetted galleries from 18 countries, not a mass-exhibitor trade floor, in a format built around display quality and security rather than footfall volume.
Traffic & timing
Access is tiered across the 10-day run: a Friday Collectors' Preview (noon–10pm), an 'Exclusive' Saturday, several standard public days, a Thursday extended to 10pm — and a Monday that's invitation-only, closed to the general public entirely. A stand needs to perform for very different audiences on different days, not one consistent crowd.
Key deadlines
Plan backwards from move-in.
Exhibitor eligibility & application
Only established art/antiques dealers can apply — VAT-registered, actively trading, with the gallery's director in place for at least 3 years; artists, auction houses and consultants can't exhibit directly, so confirm the client's eligibility before any stand planning starts.
Authentication vetting window
Every work on every stand is checked by BRAFA's 90+ expert vetting committee over two days, with lab analysis and Art Loss Register verification — build install and display-ready timing around that vetting window, not just the public opening.
No vehicle access during the show
BRAFA prohibits vehicle access to the site for security reasons once the fair is running — all installation, delivery and any mid-show adjustments need to happen before that lockdown, not on a rolling basis like a typical trade fair.
Watch-outs
Brussels Expo, Halls 3, 4 & 8, not a generic hall.
No vehicles on-site once the show opens
Security rules block vehicle access to the site during the fair — a stand-build plan that assumes a delivery truck can pull up mid-run for adjustments or replacements simply won't work here.
The vetting process happens on your stand
Two full days of expert authentication, lab analysis and Art Loss Register checks take place before opening — display fixtures, lighting and security need to be functional and final before vetting starts, not finished the morning of Collectors' Preview.
A closed Monday changes the week's rhythm
One full day mid-run is invitation-only with no general public — staffing and stand 'performance' plans built for even daily footfall will misjudge that day badly.
This isn't a volume fair — security and discretion matter more than signage
With only 150 galleries and a security posture built around high-value, insurable objects (bag restrictions, photography permissions, no unauthorised tripods), a stand designed to shout for attention reads as out of place next to the fair's own restrained, protective norms.

[PLACEHOLDER] Verhaeghe Fine Art
A discreet, secure stand built around a two-day vetting process
Verhaeghe needed display fixtures, lighting and security measures fully finished before BRAFA's expert authentication committee arrived — not just before the public preview. We sequenced the build to be vetting-ready two days early, with a design language suited to the fair's restrained, high-value context rather than a typical trade-fair stand.
Passed vetting on first inspection, with zero adjustments needed before Collectors' Preview.

Frequently asked
BRAFA, answered.
Can we plan for deliveries or adjustments during the show?
No — BRAFA blocks vehicle access to the site once the fair is running, so all installation and delivery needs to be complete before that point, unlike a typical trade fair with rolling access.
Does our stand need to be finished before the public opening?
Earlier than that — BRAFA's two-day expert vetting and authentication process happens before Collectors' Preview, so display, lighting and security all need to be functional in time for that, not just the public days.
Is a bold, attention-grabbing stand the right approach here?
Usually not — BRAFA's own security posture and curatorial tone are restrained and protective of high-value objects; a stand that reads as discreet and secure tends to fit the context better than one built to shout.
