Koelnmesse, Entrance North — Halls 7+8
Dates
9–11 November 2026
Exhibitors
3,200+ attending companies (organiser's 2026 figure)
Visitors
5,000+ biopharma professionals from 61+ countries expected (2026); a separate meta-description figure cites 8,000+ total participants — treat the higher number as a broader, rounded count
Stand sizes
Standard exhibit packages are 6m² shell scheme (upgradable to 12–16m²); self-build island booths only start at 20m²+ — this is a partnering conference with compact stands, not a walk-up exhibition hall
Sector
Biotech & pharma partnering
Before you book
What you actually need to know about BIO-Europe.
BIO-Europe is Europe's largest biotech partnering conference, filling Koelnmesse's Halls 7 and 8 with pre-scheduled licensing and investment meetings rather than walk-up show-floor traffic — a room built for closing deals, not browsing.
Traffic & timing
There's no real walk-up traffic: nearly every visit is a partneringONE-scheduled meeting, with in-person meeting hours running Monday 09:00–18:30, Tuesday 08:00–18:30 and a shorter Wednesday 08:00–17:00. A two-day digital extension (17–18 November) also exists for meetings that don't fit into the three days on-site — worth factoring in when deciding how much to invest in the physical stand versus the virtual follow-up.
Key deadlines
Plan backwards from move-in.
Partnering requests open
partneringONE opens for meeting requests on 28 September 2026 — get your company profile complete well before that date, since acceptance rates depend on profile quality, not just being registered.
Exhibit package selection
Standard exhibit packages are fixed at 6m² shell scheme (upgradable to 12–16m²) — decide early if you need a self-build island booth instead, since those only start at 20m²+ and need a completely different build plan.
Digital extension days
If your on-site schedule fills up, unmet meeting requests can carry over to the digital extension on 17–18 November — factor that into your Cologne trip planning rather than trying to cram every meeting into three days.
Watch-outs
Koelnmesse, Entrance North — Halls 7+8, not a generic hall.
Carnival starts as the show ends
Cologne's Carnival season kicks off at 11:11am on 11 November — the same day BIO-Europe closes — with up to 100,000 people in the streets; book hotels in Köln Messe/Deutz (right bank, near the venue) rather than near the Cathedral or Hauptbahnhof, and build in extra time for delayed trains.
Standard stands are smaller than they sound
The default exhibit package is 6m² shell scheme — enough for a table and lead-gen conversations, not the kind of stand you'd build at a walk-up medtech fair; don't budget or design as if you have MEDICA-scale space.
No spontaneous foot traffic to fall back on
Every meeting is pre-scheduled through partneringONE — an unstaffed stand doesn't pick up passersby here the way it would elsewhere, so presence is about your online profile and outreach before the show, not stand design alone.
Meeting-day hours aren't equal
Wednesday closes early (17:00 versus 18:30 on Monday and Tuesday) — don't schedule your highest-priority meetings for the final afternoon, since the room empties out earlier than the first two days.

[PLACEHOLDER] Heliox Bio
A 12m² stand built around back-to-back partnering meetings
Heliox needed to run private partnering meetings without visual or acoustic bleed between them, inside Koelnmesse's compact shell-scheme footprint. We upgraded to a 12m² package and built two semi-enclosed pods with sound-dampening panels rather than the open layout most exhibitors default to.
Two concurrent private meetings in a footprint most competitors use as one open table.

Frequently asked
BIO-Europe, answered.
Can we build a custom stand instead of the shell-scheme package?
Only from 20m² upward — below that, Koelnmesse's shell-scheme system is mandatory, so a 6–16m² presence means working within fixed walls, not a free design.
Should we plan differently because of the Cologne Carnival timing?
Yes — book your hotel in Köln Messe/Deutz rather than near the Cathedral or Hauptbahnhof, and plan an earlier departure on 11 November, since city-wide Carnival celebrations start at 11:11am and disrupt trains and streets across town.
Is it worth building anything at all if meetings are pre-scheduled?
Yes, but differently than at a walk-up fair — the stand's job is to make waiting between back-to-back meetings feel private and professional, not to attract passersby who mostly don't exist here.
Exhibiting elsewhere too?
More fairs we build for.
